Poetry from the Generations

  Choka/Tanka
by Nancy Ness

Moon over water
Reflection of firmament
A cleansing mirror
Catharsis for sunshine’s day
Thenceforth true enlightenment

Snowflake symphony
Enwrapped in nightly blanket
The sound of silence
Falling harmoniously
Upon earth’s discord beneath

  The silence within
Universal  awareness
Treasure found anew
Expressions of inner minds
To oneself truth must be told

Students of times past
Learn humanity's context
Hope to heed its call
Attendance to history
Wends pathways to future peace

Haiku/Senyru

Nature's lavation
Falling snows purifying
Sullied earth below

God Bless this Sunday
May His wisdom fall upon
Each ray of Sunshine

Gulls sing Freedom's song
Sentinels from coast to coast
Worldwide echoes waft

Words create visions
Unbounded within mind's eye
Endless excursions

A unique fruitloop
Unleashed creativity
For new days' breakfast

Walking life's long road
Recall Streets of Memories
Step down Future's Way

Seaside skies opaque
Unseen foghorn drones from shore
Heralding till dawn

Mossy green feathers
Mysteria's lee walks
Whispering secrets

Window to the world
Celestial visions afar
Poet's pen beams light

Follow tumbleweeds
Rolling winds on boundless plain
Stop to smell sagebrush

Paths of righteous truth
And purity of heart lend
Self encirclement

Recollection dwells
Lifelong freedom's relative
Mind's writings boundless

Lost hearts found within
Open chambers to new love
Previously locked

Truth in word and deed
Embraces a Godly path
Life of fulfillment

Shades of lavender
Greet morning's ray openly
Green meadows beneath

Petals reflecting
Enhance our garden of life
Double the fragrance

Perennial rose
Fragrant petal shields from thorn
A lifetime treasure

The sun and the moon
Antithesis one to each
Symbiotic light

  Safety lies within
Hearts entwined freely to each
Eternal comfort

Tempestuous seas
Churn serene wave to riptide
Exposing the deep

Each revolution
Bearing wisdom for mankind
Yields evolution

Poetry is all
A landscape of painted words
A portrait of life

Clinging to my screen
Lone Monarch in its grandeur
Without chrysalis

Cumulous heavens
Securely holding secrets
Watching from above

Jingling castanets
Resound mellifluently
Syncopated hearts

Olympic leisure
Sporting Parade of Nations
Lifetime exertion

Mirrored reflection
You are there, here with me viewed
From within oneself
