Fall Back
by Nancy Ness

Fall Back today, Fall Back they say
We’ll have one extra hour
To wile away, howe’er we may
For each the option ours

If you could choose, with naught to lose
An hour to live again
Follow your muse, and have no rues
Return to where and when

A time you’d find you could rewind
And have another chance
To redesign ways left behind
The course of happenstance

What would you do, for life anew
To quell incumbrous strife?
To take your cue from yester’s view
And change that hour of life?

Turn back the clock –  past times are locked
Fall Back one hour tonight
Arise to walk in wisdom’s talk
Best tend to morrow’s rite

Then borrow some from time to come
Of future’s heedful hours
Affect the sum of life undone
For destiny is ours

If from the past we’ve learned at last
Time wisely spent instead
As hours pass, life’s play’s recast
Fall Back then Spring Ahead
