I Like to Think
by Velma M. Carlson

I like to think that maybe you are here,
and that I am really not alone.
I like to think that maybe you can see
and are with me, no matter where
I roam.

I like to think that you are near even though
you may be far away,
And I like to think that some day you
will come for me
and we will be together then
for "always".

You always told me that you would
never leave me,
And that you would always be close if
I should call.
So, now, I know that you have kept
your promise.
The things you said, yes, I
remember all.

Sometimes I feel that you are close
beside me.
And I try to be happy through the day,
But when the sun is sinking in the west,
I feel lonely like the day you
went away.
