Memories
in Nana's own words
(They say much more than mine ever could)

I was born in Aroostook County in the town of  Caribou, Maine.  I lived on the East Presque Isle Road, and I long to go back again.

I went to the Hardison School when I was growing up, and then to Caribou High School.  It was hard when the weather was rough.

I miss the Aroostook River and the potatoes we dug in the fall.  I remember the beautiful blossoms, a wonderful sight, I recall.  I miss old friends from caribou, so many have passed away – but, I have so many memories that I treasure day by day.

The “Evergreen Cemetery” up on South Main Street – My mom and dad are resting there; and I know some day we’ll meet.  I love the town where I was born in dear old “Aroostook County, Maine – and I always hope that some day I can go back again.
