My
Dream
by Velma M. Carlson
I
dreamed last night that he came
Home
It was as real as it could be.
He said, “Vel, come on and take
A walk
Come on and follow me.”
He took my hand and we
Skipped along, through the
Woods so bright and clear.
We were so young, and full of pep,
But, it sure seemed real to me.
“Now, can’t you see how happy I am?
I don’t have an ache or pain.
So, please – Dear, don’t cry – be happy
And laugh – I’ll be sure to come back again.
I’ll be back in just no time at all –
So you be happy, please?
And then one day, when I return
Maybe you will come with me,
Talking of our sweet memories.
You will hold my hand and I’ll hold yours.
And pray it may ever be.”
