My Book
of Memories
by Velma M. Carlson
In
my “Book of Memories”, back over
The years
There’s a story left untold
About two very young people whose
Love was like “pure gold”.
The lived in Aroostook County,
In the town of Caribou, Maine,
But there they were wed, and moved away,
And the story I’ll explain.
She was young, only in her late teens,
And he was over twenty – but the love
They had was all they wanted
To make a life together.
They came to Auburn, Mass
In the year of twenty-six – They
Planned a home and had three
Children and felt that they were
Rich
Life
was very happy for them – They
Never wanted riches; they
knew
Their wealth was the love they had
As long as they were together.
The years went by and they built
That home
Small, but full of love. Still
they
Knew one day that they would
Part.
After
nearly sixty-five years together.
So, in my memories I’ll have
To add – Our life together was
Beautiful.
Someday I know, it will be the same
As it is
In my “book of Memories
